Digital Illustration
2nd - 4th Grade
The following artworks were produced using iPads and the Tayasui Sketches app, styluses. The lesson included an exploration of various digital art styles, and instruction on app functionality: brushes, layers, and importing reference images to look at while drawing.
Pixel ART
2nd-4th Grade
Zines
Fourth & Fifth Grade
The following publications are designs created as part of an integrated unit on graphic design, illustration, and expository writing (text features). Students hand-drafted miniature publications exploring a topic of interest. They made insightful design decisions and engaged in an iterative design process and peer critique as they progressed through a series of design phases. These phases could be repeated as many times as needed, and there were several points during project development where "instances" of their work was saved, so that at any point in the future they could go back and develop ideas in a different direction, editing and transforming their work along the way!
Painting 101
8th Grade
The following artworks are various painting assignments produced in 2017 by my 8th grade private art student, Hannah V.
Interior Ecosystems
first Grade
The following artworks are from an integrated lesson on ecosystems and architecture. This lesson asked students to explore living and non-living elements that work together to form a human ecosystem. Students drew from prior knowledge, work they'd done in Language Arts, and personal experience. I read Richard Scarry's "What Do People Do All Day" to further demonstrate this concept. We made illustrations inspired by Scarry of our own interior ecosystems.
